Lactation Support from Jillian Carter, RN, IBCLC
I am not currently accepting new clients who have already delivered. Depending on your location, you may be able to book with another MilkMatters Lactation Consultant.
I am currently booking appointments for:
established clients scheduling follow-up visits
new clients, currently pregnant with a due date in January or later
new clients, interested in inducing lactation
If you are pregnant and due sooner than the month listed above, please do not book an appointment. To meet the needs of clients who have already established care, I limit the number of new clients I take each month, based on clients’ due dates. All of my slots are filled for due dates prior to the month stated above. Thank you for understanding.
I am also offering classes, open to all.
Support for the whole journey.
Have support available from the very start, rather than scrambling to find a Lactation Consultant when you’re in the thick of things.
You’ll establish care during your pregnancy with a one-on-one Prenatal Consult in the office or virtually. Our classes will boost your confidence and give you education and tools to to feel well-prepared. Once baby arrives, I’ll come to your home for an Initial Consult to get things off to a good start. You’ll have Follow-up Consults in the office or virtually at regular intervals through the first year, or as long as you need!
The MilkMatters Albany office is located at:
12 Metro Park Road, Ste. 208
Albany, NY 12205
Oh, you’re a planner who likes all the details? Same.
The typical experience goes something like this:
During pregnancy, about 2-4 months prior to your due date, you’ll have a Prenatal Consult, in the office or virtual. (Note, I tend to book up, so you’ll want to get this scheduled months in advance.) We’ll get to know one another and talk through any anticipated bumps in the road. You’ll put my number in your phone and I’ll put your due date on my calendar.
In addition to your one-on-one Prenatal Consult, you’ll take classes in our Prenatal Series. These classes provide education on what to expect through your breastfeeding journey, from the intense early days all the way through weaning.
When you deliver, send me a message and we’ll schedule your home visit for a day soon after you’re home from the hospital. At that Initial Consult with baby, we’ll address common concerns for those early days, like ensuring baby’s getting enough to eat and latching is comfortable.
If you need extra appointments at any point, we’ll add those in, but our standard schedule for routine Follow-up Consults gives us opportunities to check in at times when we anticipate changes. We also try to stagger with the typical pediatrician schedule, so we can monitor things without making you too busy. Generally, you’ll come to the office with baby around 3 weeks and 6 weeks, and then choose either an office visit or virtual consult for 12 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, and whenever you wean.
